Servi

ISTANBUL · A**** K**** HOUSE · COLD-CAST BRONZE · 2026

With Servi, the first decision came before the figure: the material. Studying the natural stone, the colour palette and the material details of the architectural project, I knew the work had to be bronze.

The language of the house leaned towards abstraction, yet an entirely abstract form would not have found its place in that corridor; nor did I want a realistic figure. I therefore conceived Servi within the stylised figurative tradition of organic modernism — somewhere between Hepworth’s and Moore’s way of turning the body into flowing masses and Giacometti’s attenuated, solitary verticals.

The curves of the corridors, the calm of the house and the feeling its owner evoked in me became a fluid, understated female figure, free of excessive detail.

Like the cypress it is named after, its slender height was a deliberate choice: to carry the calm of the space upward without interrupting the corridor.
